Relay’s nationwide network of depots are fully resourced to deal with all types of specialist equipment storage, with customer assets ranging from MFPs to audio visual equipment and from laboratory fridges to vending machines.
This requires very high levels of skills and experience from our technical warehousing teams. The many different types of valuable equipment that are entrusted to us are vulnerable in different ways, so knowledge and commitment to the most rigorous standards of care need to be maintained at all times.
Investment in IT and communications technology has always been a major priority for Relay, and this has included ensuring that our warehousing operations have the equipment to provide the most efficient contribution to supply chain demands.
For instance, our Warehouse Management System (WMS) supports the need for total inventory accuracy and provides customers the online facility of checking the stock levels of their specialist equipment in storage at any one of our depots.
The WMS is fully integrated with our order processing software and can create real time pick instructions sent via radio frequency (RF) to barcode scanners where stock and locations will be scanned. This RF technology enables us to update order fulfilment and stock levels accurately and rapidly.
As well as being well resourced centres for specialist equipment storage, our network of depots also act as logistics hubs to provide maximum efficiency throughout the supply chain of Relay’s nationwide collection and delivery services and our worldwide freight forwarding operations. They play a vital role in the efficient management of the transport and delivery of high value electronics equipment that Relay specialises in handling.
Through their expertise and the advanced technical resources they have in place, Relay’s warehousing teams are essential in fulfilling our vision to be able to offer customers our services as a partnership with no boundaries.
